SluiceBox Direct Privacy Policy
Last updated: September 18, 2026
SluiceBox is a media player for Android TV. The app does not provide TV channels, movies, series, playlists, or subscriptions to media content. Users provide their own legal provider or source information.
Information You Provide
SluiceBox may store provider details that you enter, including source URL, username, password, playlist settings, and related account metadata such as expiration information returned by your provider. This information is stored on your device so the app can load your guide, live channels, movies, and series. SluiceBox does not sell or provide media services.
Playback, Guide, And DVR Data
The app stores local app data needed for normal use, including selected source, guide data, favorites, recently played channels, playback resume positions, settings, theme choices, and DVR schedule information. If DVR is enabled, recordings are stored on the local or external storage location selected on the Android TV device.
Purchases And Theme Catalog
SluiceBox Direct uses Stripe Checkout for Premium purchases. Stripe handles payment-card details; SluiceBox does not collect card numbers. Our Direct server stores a Stripe customer identifier, purchase email, subscription or payment identifier, and an account access token hash to provide Premium access and restore purchases by email code.
The app may request the theme catalog from the SluiceBox backend to show available themes, theme variants, prices, and unlock status.
Limited network and request metadata may be processed to rate-limit abuse and diagnose service failures. Restore codes expire after 10 minutes.
Backup And Sync
SluiceBox can create password-encrypted backups in local storage, on removable storage, or in a Google Drive account that you authorize. Standard backups can contain provider URLs and credentials, source configuration, favorites, custom groups, channel ordering and visibility, viewing history, playback progress, themes, and app settings. They do not include downloaded playlists or guide databases, DVR recordings, purchased-entitlement records, payment information, or device authorization. Demo backups do not contain provider credentials or purchases.
Backup files are encrypted before they leave the device using AES-GCM and a key derived from the password you choose. SluiceBox cannot recover a forgotten backup password. When Google Drive is used, Google processes the authorization and stores the encrypted backup under its own privacy terms. SluiceBox requests access only to files it creates or opens through the app.
Local Remote Companion
SluiceBox can expose a local-network remote control service for pairing with the companion phone or tablet remote app. Pairing and remote commands are intended for devices on the same local network. The companion remote may send navigation, search, tuning, and voice or search commands to the TV app.
Microphone
If voice input is enabled, the app may request microphone access for voice or search features. Microphone access is used only when you choose to use voice input.
Network And VPN Status
SluiceBox may check network or VPN status to support connectivity, provider access, local remote pairing, and the optional Auto VPN Detection safety feature.
Sharing
SluiceBox does not sell personal data. Data may be processed by:
- Stripe for checkout, subscriptions, purchase management, and payment processing.
- Google Drive when you authorize cloud backup and restore.
- Your provider source when the app connects using the information you provide.
- The separate SluiceBox Direct backend for account access, purchase verification, and theme catalog access.
Data Deletion
You can remove provider sources and app settings from inside the app or clear app data in Android settings. DVR recordings and backup files can be deleted from their storage locations. Contact support to request deletion of Direct account records. Billing records held by Stripe are handled under Stripe's applicable retention requirements.
